The Best Macaroni Pie You’ll Ever Eat!

I grew up eating macaroni pie, and it’s one of my all-time favorite comfort foods. This recipe is my take on the classic dish, and it’s always a hit with family and friends. The key to a great macaroni pie is in the sauce – I like to use a combination of cheddar cheese, cream, and some secret spices that give it a real punch.

Macaroni Pie


  • salt, bucatini or elbow macaroni, butter, evaporated milk, ketchup, mustard, oil, pimento peppers, onion, garlic cloves, black pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper (optional), eggs, extra sharp white cheddar cheese , extra sharp yellow cheddar cheese.


  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil and add 1 tablespoon of salt and the pasta, stirring to loosen any clumps of pasta that stick together. Cook the pasta according to package directions, stirring occasionally, then drain and return it to the same pot.
  • Add the butter and toss until it is completely melted and coats the pasta. Cover the pot with a lid and set aside off the heat as you continue to prep the remaining ingredients.
  • While the pasta cooks, whisk together evaporated milk, eggs, ketchup, and mustard in a 4-cup measuring cup or medium bowl until combined. Set aside.
  • Heat oil in a small frying pan over medium heat and add onion, garlic, and pimento peppers. Sauté until fragrant (about 5 minutes) then remove from heat. Add these aromatics to the pasta along with black pepper, paprika 1 teaspoon salt, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix thoroughly so that seasonings distribute well throughout the pasta mixture then pour the milk mixture over top and give it a good stir.
  • Add ¾ of cheese little by little.
